It kind of a Metal Slug/Megamen game... Below is the control info i got from elsewhere so enjoy...
Controls are as follows:
Z - attack
X - jump
C - Special Move (Big knight attacks your enemies, like a bomb in shooters)

There are three types of attack. Normal, rapid, tentacle strike, and knee bomb. Normal is just a normal shot forward. Rapid is when your character holds up both arms and starts firing 2 shots at once. To activate, just hold the attack button.

Next is Tentacle strike. Simply executed, it's hold up and attack. Slower to use and limited range, it's more powerful and go through enemy shields. However if you're taking your time to blast a big guy, rapid fire is probably the way to go.

Lastly, knee bomb. Hold down and press attack to kneel and fire an orange canister. Slow to use and not much stronger than normal shots, it's wide arc allows you to hit enemies from different levels. Useless against bosses, but quite good in the later areas.

There's 4 levels to the game, so it's pretty short. Still, they are pretty lengthy and if you die you're starting from the beginning. If you're low on health, take the time to kill some enemies over and over. Enemies respawn if you go back and forth, so be careful.

How to start these? I always have trouble with files that include the fish on a plate icon

Try to change the Regional And Language Setting to Japanese. That should slove the problem.
